just because it was wet wouldn't lower fines or anything, your the driver so you need to know how to control the vehicle in any condition, if its a certain conditio you need to adjust your stopping distance accordingly, if NJ is the same as NC you'll get 3 points on your license and fines im not sure, probably a couple hundred but not sure, also you won't have to pay for her repairs, your insurance will, since its your first ticket and it wasn't that bad of an accident the judge MIGHT reduce it down some but won't reduce it much since it was an accident, that is if its a nice judge, what you could do is get a lawyer but its no guarantees, i've had 4 tickets ever since i got my license 8 years ago and my lawyer got them all reduced down to an ordinance so no points just small fines less than $20, but they were just traffic citations to start with not accidents, but you can talk to a good lawyer and see if they might can do anything, should give you a free consultation, the lawyer might cost about $200-250 but if they can reduce it then it will be worth it in the long run because you won't get points and your insurance also won't go up
