How to prevent slippage of hardened steel tensiles in a tensile tester?

I am using an Instron testing instrument and have repeated problems with tensile slippage. We have purchased new steel grips and clean them daily. I have tried several different methods of "wrapping" the tensile ends (sandpaper, duct tape, even steel epoxy). Help!
