Movie where guy buys his farm back?

I am trying to help my mother find some movie. She says that a big name actor (thinks it's Kurt Russel or Mel Gibson) plays in it. The story is about a guy that looses his farm. When it goes up for action, no one in town will buy it. He ends up buying it back for like a dollar. Sorry there isn't much to go on. I tried looking up different actors on IMDb and going through their discography, but I can't find anything.
