How do I become a computer Geek?

Forget about courses. They are rarely lead by Geeks. Books can be useful but I don't think you really get the most out of them unless you have played around with computers. Like others who have answered your question I say try things. Can you really do harm to your computer yes, but you have to be really unlucky (or in the real world stupid). However I must in all honesty say that trying to be a geek (whatever you actually mean by that) is not really something you can train yourself to be you either are Geek material or you are not. If you think about it to most people it is a bit sad to enjoy looking at a computer screen for most of your life. Not only that but wanting to chat to other socially challenged individuals about your obsession. If you can't really hack it (no pun intended) then all that left is answering questions on sites like this. Sad when you think about it.
